Food + Help
It will be up to the attendees to decide what they would like to eat over the weekend. If anyone would like to volunteer to take command of a meal that would be ace - we will have a kitty on the tour to cover the food costs.
Drink wise we will have local ales on tap and plenty of Rose etc.
What to bring + Logistics
The Rectory is located just above Marks Tey which has regular trains to London (50mins) and also connects the main line to Bures Cricket Club via a branch line that runs once per hour.
Aldham is a 1.5 hr drive from London or 2hr at rush hour.
We will have the Pecker Packer on duty over the weekend, which can fit 12 for the sake of short journeys. C' de la D' may take cricket bags off playing peckers the weekend beforehand in order to lessen their load for the travel out to Essex.
Peckers welcome to arrive anytime on Friday afternoon. Or meet at the ground on Saturday morning if coming straight from London.
Bring a tennis racquet if you are serious - if not we have plenty, though some are wooden.
Swimming stuff - unless you are Pukey Joe or Windy
Golf clubs if you are serious (would be good to have anyone driving bring a set of clubs - I have a half decent set plus masses of old clubs, however it would be good to get some more - can be brought to the pre tour game the weekend before to transfer to David if this helps)
Sunday 26th MAy -
Sunday - chill and games - Rose pool party. Walk to pub etc.
I feel bad about asking for contributions from the club for this weekend, however - our family home I am now running as a business and the May bank holiday weekend would normally be let for £3000. In a year of two hopefully we are doing well enough to wave the fee, but for now I’ve been advised to ask for contributions for staying.
The weekend will be a truly amazing one - Bures are a cracking bunch and with the house now had a lot of work on it to accommodate groups, combined with the gardens, pool and grass tennis court - it is a cricket teams party heaven. If you can spare £50 for the accommodation costs that would be great. If you want a double room or not happy to share a double bed with someone, please contribute double!
My worry is that we block out this weekend of our calendar for the house and for whatever reason people drop out etc and we are left with a cancellation / loss of income for nothing.
Thus please RSVP as soon as you can and either commit to the fixture / tour or not.
Please see our airbnb page for more details on the house:
